Name: Buster

Sex: Male

Best Guess for Breed: Bulldog/Pit Mix

Weight: 55 lbs

Lives With: People

Housebroken? YES!

Story: Buster was picked up as a stray in Charlotte, NC. He was pulled from the kill shelter and lived with a foster family for 4 weeks. While there, he lived great with people and other dogs! Buster was then adopted and moved to Jersey City, NJ where he has lived for 6 months. In the last six months, Buster has been a wonderful dog, a loyal companion, the snuggliest boy, and easy in so many ways: he does not chew anything that isn't his, he loves car rides, walks really well on leash, he can be left alone, he is house trained, and he knows all his basic commands! Unfortunately, Buster's owners are expecting a baby in June, and are unable to keep him. In an effort to set Buster up for the most success in his new home, Buster has been in a wonderful board and train program for 3 weeks and now knows how to “go to place” and “load up,” and has been working on leash skills and confidence building. He is the sweetest, cuddliest boy and is ready to find his forever home!

What my foster says:

MY PERFECT MATCH: We believe Buster would be a wonderful dog in a home with no children or other pets and with an experienced dog owner! Buster is a classic bully breed boy who needs loving leadership and boundaries!

PERFECT FAMILY: A home with adults only and no pets would be ideal for Buster. He has shown he can live well with some dogs and not others, so placement with another dog requires a case-by-case evaluation.

PERFECT HOME: We believe Buster would do well in a city environment or in a home with a yard! He’s happy in any environment.

EXERCISE NEEDS: Buster loves going on walks to burn off some of his young dog energy! He also loves training exercises that work his brain. Buster is great on the leash, but can sometimes be distracted and nervous when other dogs nearby exhibit high energy or interest in him, but he’s easy to redirect and keep on walking. When he isn't working out physically or mentally, he loves a good nap!

BEHAVIOR IN HOME: Buster is silly, goofy, and sweet! He will have you laughing all day long! He loves to curl up in his bed for long naps or find a sunny spot in the house to recharge. Buster is slowly but surely learning to be more confident in himself, his people, and his surroundings. He warms very quickly to some people and is apprehensive towards others at first. With the right amount of space and guidance, he is working on warming up to strangers in the home. Buster does not have accidents in the home, does not jump up on counters or dig through trash, and he is a perfectly behaved boy when you leave him home alone!

CRATE: Buster is fully crate trained! His new owner will want to continue using the crate as a great way for Buster to decompress.
